I was excited to hear what you thought about Obsession since I finally had a chance to play it on the weekend. For the most part, I think your judgments were fair. I, too, enjoyed working on my own family estate, found the “tableau building” (not sure if that’s what you were referring to, since I barely play games as such…) unique to me, and thought the scoring/time track added depth to the game. Most of all, I love how thematic it is (love your intro BTW).
My problem is with the “asthetics” bit. While I never turn my nose up at flavour text, I found the photos on the Guests/Gentry cards were on the tiny side (not sure how or why it would add to my game play but it bothered me) and I was hoping the event tiles would have some detail: somehow look as charming as what I picture the Victorian era would look like, in my mind…
Glad to hear you enjoyed “Obsession”. Despite our 4p game (3 of us new to the game) lasting 3 hours it was a memorable experience. Unfortunately, not many stores near me seemed to carry it or it sold out quick!

I’m so glad you got a chance to take Obsession for a spin, it’s a lovely game! I can understand your aesthetics problem, those are some valid points. As a whole, I still think the game looks good! And what a record game you went for :O I’m amazed you still liked it after 3 hours. Thanks for taking the time to comment, it’s always lovely to hear from people!
